Self-excluded patrons
Self-excluded patrons are blocked from signing in at your venue. When a self-excluded patron attempts to sign in, entry is blocked and staff are alerted by the unsuccessful sign-in outcome so they can take any appropriate action.
A self-exclusion can be set as active for a specific period and will automatically become inactive once the end date passes.
How matching works
When a patron signs in, VenueScan checks their details against your self-excluded patrons list.
- Name and date of birth: if the self-exclusion has both, we match against patrons with the same name and the same date of birth.
- Name only: if no date of birth is set, we match on name alone.
Name matching uses a built-in algorithm that accounts for common OCR errors, so minor variations in how a name is read from an ID won’t cause a missed match. Middle names are not required for a match.
