Flagged patrons
Flagged patrons are detected when they attempt to sign in at your venue. Unlike a ban or self-exclusion, a flag does not block entry — the patron is still allowed to sign in, but staff are alerted by the warning sign-in outcome so they can take any appropriate action.
You can set a flag for a specific period or make it permanent.
How matching works
When a patron signs in, VenueScan checks their details against your flagged patrons list.
- Name and date of birth: if the flag has both, we match against patrons with the same name and the same date of birth.
- Name only: if no date of birth is set on the flag, we match on name alone.
Name matching uses a built-in algorithm that accounts for common OCR errors, so minor variations in how a name is read from an ID won’t cause a missed match. Middle names are not required for a match.
